Six things film shooters ask most. Tap a question to open it.
Film developing basics
C-41 (colour), black & white, E-6 (slide) and ECN-2 Film (motion-picture) — all developed in-house, never sent out. 35mm, 120, 220, 110, 4×5, 8×10 and disposable cameras are all welcome.
Yes — note your push or pull per roll when ordering, or leave a note for mixed rolls. If you're unsure what you shot at, tell us the camera's EI and we'll advise.
Absolutely — single-use cameras are processed as standard C-41. Choose "Disposable" when you build your order.
We process most expired and specialty stocks. Pick "Other / specialty" and leave details in the notes so we can handle it correctly.
Turnaround
C-41, B&W, E-6 and ECN-2 Film are next-day. Next-day means ready by midnight the next day — not guaranteed before our 6 PM close, and not a strict 24-hour turnaround.
When your film is checked in at the Toronto lab (BSMT-204 Spadina Ave) — not at a mailbox or a partner drop-off point. See Turnaround & Policy for the full detail.
Scanning, TIFF & JPEG
Frontier SP-3000 is our house look — warm and punchy. Noritsu HS-1800 is crisp and flexible. For archival high-res detail, choose Flextight X5. Each is matched to your film.
JPEGs are ready to share and print. Add TIFF if you want uncompressed 16-bit files for heavy editing or archival — both are delivered together.
As a download link emailed to you, usually the same day developing finishes. Watch your inbox for the link and any expiry note.
Yes — our Self-Scan Stations let you scan on Graination's gear at your own pace.
Negatives & handling
Always, unless you choose "Discard negatives." Pick them up in Toronto or choose mail-back at checkout. Sleeved negatives are included with every develop order.
It happens — loading errors, light leaks, or expired film. We'll tell you what we saw on the negatives and never charge scanning for frames that aren't there.
Cool, dry and sleeved. We sell archival sleeves and binders in the shop.
Orders, mail-in & drop-off
Yes — build your order first so your choices and order number travel with your film. At HQ we can help you order on the spot.
At the main lab or any partner point — see Drop-Off Locations. You can also mail film from anywhere in Canada.
Yes. Ship to BSMT-204 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON M5T 2C2. Once it's checked in, it enters the same in-house workflow. See Mail-In Film.
Payment & pickup
Orders are built and paid online before your film reaches the lab. Add-ons or adjustments are settled with your order. You'll get a confirmation by email.
Download links are available for a limited window after delivery — save your files promptly. If a link expires, reach out and we'll help where we can.
Yes — NERD Membership gives regular shooters member pricing on developing and scanning, applied at checkout when logged in.
